Richmond International Airport

Richmond International Airport is a 22-gate airport located just outside downtown Richmond, Virginia. Its analog paging system was nearing the end of its life, so AVANT ACOUSTICS designed a new, digital, network-centric paging system that is serving the airport now and for years to come.

AVANT ACOUSTICS provided the following services:

  • Paging Announcement Control System design
  • Microphone paging station location design
  • Loudspeaker distribution design for select underserved areas of the terminal
  • System commissioning

Project Highlights:

AVANT ACOUSTICS collaborated with network designers to bring Richmond International Airport a new digital, network-centric paging system for the terminal and FIS area. New head-end and ambient noise-sensing equipment for processing paging announcements was provided as well as new, digital microphone paging stations throughout the terminal for initiating clear, intelligible announcements.

While existing loudspeakers and ambient noise sensors remained in use with the new system, new ones were added in a few spaces of the terminal that lacked coverage. Now that the system is commissioned and in use, it is ready to grow, continuing to provide clear announcements for future expansions of the terminal.
